Timeless Helichrysum

· Essential Oils

A gleaming, glowing flower possesses the power to instantly reverse the clock of aging. We recognize this claim as complete fiction; and indeed, the storyline is straight out of a fairytale. But if you look closely enough, there’s a tiny kernel of truth hidden within this fantasy. One flower, a certain member of the daisy family, could have inspired such an idea.

The helichrysum flower, whose name combines the Greek words for sun (helios) and gold (chrysos), is the source of dōTERRA® Helichrysum oil. In the Mediterranean climates of both Albania and Corsica, silvery leaves surround a stem that leads to clusters of golden yellow blossoms. This ancient Greek beauty has been named “The Everlasting Flower” because of its rejuvenating benefits for the skin and ability to improve the complexion. Helichrysum oil, which is steam distilled from those golden blossoms, is revered for helping reduce the appearance of blemishes and promoting a glowing, youthful vibrancy.

Naturally, Helichrysum’s regenerating properties make it a great choice for supporting skin renewal throughout the seasons of life. Blend Helichrysum with other powerful ancient oils such as Frankincense, Myrrh, and Rose, or apply on its own to areas of the skin that could benefit from the touch of an everlasting flower. Perhaps a blemished area is crying out for nourishment, or a tired patch could take on a more youthful radiance. Helichrysum creates a soothing sensation when applied, so expect a pleasant experience!

But it's regenerating properties don't stop at the skin! Your nerves can benefit just as much. My father has a unique story using Helichrysum that I want to share with you.

Dad lost his sense of smell about 15 years ago, reason unknown. This last spring, I was reading into the properties of Helichrysum and found out about their restoring properties for nerve function and told him about them. Then I showed him how to make a roller with Helichrysum and fractionated coconut oil, and instructed him to roll it around his nose 2-3 times a day, and that it would probably take a long time to see anything happen.

About 2 months later, he told me he could smell the coffee brewing that morning!

So, needless to say, I will be always be keeping a bottle of Helichrysum on hand.

After letting this seemingly immortal flower soak into your skin, it’s time to savor the unique herbaceous aroma, which seems to hide subtle hints of honey. Enjoy a calm time of nourishment with this diffuser blend.

Quiet Renewal

• 3 drops Helichrysum

• 3 drops Lavender

• 2 drops Copaiba

I totally understand if you want to skip the aromatic recipe and jump straight to applying Helichrysum topically as part of the following face mask recipe. You’ll still get to enjoy that honey-sweet aroma while the oil soaks into your skin.

To make your own Radiant Face Mask, you’ll need:

• 1 teaspoon honey

• 1 teaspoon coconut oil

• 1/4 ripe avocado

• 2 drops Helichrysum oil

First, mash up avocado until smooth. Add honey, coconut oil, and Helichrysum. Mix well. Spread mask over your face (and neck, if desired). Leave on for 15 minutes before washing off with warm water. Apply moisturizer, then enjoy your smooth and hydrated skin.

As always, dōTERRA stands with those who farm these gifts of the earth, working to ensure that the Albanian farmers receive a consistently fair and transparent price. Farmers and harvesters receive the financial stability and security they deserve, and the Healing Hands Foundation also partners with locals in the areas of emergency relief and combating human trafficking.

From ancient Greece to the present day, Helichrysum has been used for the specific purpose of skin beautification. One thing that’s remained unchanged throughout the centuries is the high value placed on this oil. Although this flower won’t grant immortality, it has rightfully earned the reputation of lending an ageless touch. It’s time to get your hands covered in those nourishing qualities and experience radiant, timeless Helichrysum.
